Sammy and the Picture-Takers' Drawing Adventure
Sammy says you can imagine your eyes as little picture-takers, and together they send a picture of everything you see onto a tiny piece of paper, right at the back of your eye, before it zooms off to your brain.
Many children across the world visit an optometrist with their families to help keep their eyes bright and clear. When you arrive, you might spot a big chart of letters and shapes on the wall, getting smaller and smaller the further down it goes.
When it is your turn, you can say hello to the optometrist and sit in a special chair. There is nothing to worry about because the optometrist is a friendly eye explorer!
Then the eye explorer begins the adventure, shining a special light and looking closely, checking that your picture-takers are working well together, and that your little paper is smooth and ready to catch every twinkle and colour.
This is called an eye examination, which is a big word for a picture-taker check-up. When the explorer has looked closely and made sure everything is working brilliantly, your adventure is finished. Some children need a little extra help with their eyes. Sammy shows you much more about different eyes below.
